Fish Oil and Pregnancy

Lots of women and now wondering… should I be taking fish oil supplements while pregnant?  This is obviously a question, first and foremost, for your doctor.  That said, many studies are finding fish oil as being beneficial toward brain development of children in the womb.  The absolute must is finding a supplement that has been purified of mercury and other toxins.  There are advanced purification processes in place now, but some stores still sell ‘the cheap stuff.’  In fact, if you find a purified supplement, it’s probably safer than eating seafood itself.

Fish Oil in New York Times

Fish oil was in the New York Times today.  The article discussed the possibility of fish oil containing high levels of mercury.  The gist of the article is that after many studies most fish oil supplements found on the market do not contain significant levels of mercury.  Fish oil dosage can be limited should you think this is a concern.
